The sequel was considered better than Ecks vs. Sever, but received lower reviews because it was released later in the Game Boy Advance life cycle. It also had to compete with other shooters, such as Doom. The first level was criticized for having a difficult hedge maze that discouraged many gamers. The game reportedly lagged if many enemies and objects were on-screen in certain levels. The sound effects were much improved from the first game.
