The player plays as N.O.R.A.D. or W.O.P.R. in the Playstation version unlike the PC version of the game. The story takes place 20 years after the film, where W.O.P.R. attempts to exterminate humanity and N.O.R.A.D. tries to stop it. During a mission the player takes control of a vehicle and can which to any other vehicle at the player's disposal. N.O.R.A.D. has heavily armored and armed tanks and aircraft and W.O.P.R. possesses exotically futuristic mechs and hovercraft. Vehicles can recharge ammo by obtaining powers or can be commanded to supply at a certain base located on the map. Along with that, players can also command their units to go repair at this same supply base, attack targets or follow the player's main vehicle.
